The beach town Negombo is located on the west coast of Sri Lanka, very close to Colombo Airport, and therefore it is often the first and the last town tourists stays when they visit Sri Lanka.
Negombo has long wide sandy beaches and lots of hotels, restaurants and shops along the main road. The town is known for the fish market and the many fisher boats.
Two times a week there is a market, where you can buy everything from vegetables to clothes and kitchen knifes.

Tissamaharama (Tissa), is the ideal place to stay before a visit to the nearby Yala National Park and Bundala National Park.
The area around Tissa is home to a lot of birds and wildlife.

Sheltered in the foothills, 15 km northeast of Tissa, is Kataragama.
A compelling mix of pomp and procession, piety and religious extravagance, this most holy of towns is a shot of oriental thrills at the end of an island-wide pilgrimage.
Along with Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada), this is the most important religious pilgrimage site in Sri Lanka and is a holy place for Buddhists, Muslims and Hindus alike.
Wildlife & Nature
Yala National Park also called Ruhunu National Park, on the southeast coast of Sri Lanka, is one of Sri Lanka’s premier eco tourism destinations.
With tropical thorn forest and lagoons it is possible to spot wild elephants, sloth bears, water buffaloes, wild boars, monkeys, flamingos and if we are lucky we can see leopards too.
Yala National Park has the largest population of leopards in Sri Lanka.
A jeep safari is the only way to enter this national park.
The jeep safari begins either in the early morning before sun rise, or in the afternoon where the animals comes out of the bushes due to the falling temperature.

Adventure
Beware of crocodiles and huge water monitors as you cruise down the beautiful Madu Ganga River in a small boat.
Visit Cinnamon Island and buy the tasty cinnamon right where it is grown. (Bring cash if You want to purchase cinnamon)
